Interestingly, a survey conducted for “Rzeczpospolita” shows that Poles are reluctant to give priests money. Radio Zet:
Many of them oppose this long-standing tradition and are becoming increasingly critical of clergy collecting donations.
– Priests are increasingly criticized for failing to fulfill their duties, for sexual abuse and for the Church’s involvement in politics. This discourages people from giving anything – an expert explained in an interview with se.pl. He also noted that reluctance to give money to clergy and the decline in public trust in the Church as an institution also result from the widespread belief that the Church has substantial financial resources.
