For the past several years, the facility operated in a building on Opita Street. However, the county authorities decided that the counseling center should be moved to the clinic on Zwycięstwa Street. "The rooms where the facility is currently located have been renovated and adapted to the counseling center’s needs," says county head Krzysztof Konopka.
What help is available at the counseling center?
The facility’s aim is to support the development and learning efficiency of children and young people, help students choose an education and career path, and provide children, young people, their parents, guardians, teachers and educators with psychological, educational and speech therapy assistance.
The counseling center is open to everyone, and its services are voluntary and free of charge. A child may be referred to the center for examinations or therapeutic activities by a parent or legal guardian, as well as by a teacher or educator.
Referral forms for examinations are available at every school from the school counselor and at the counseling center’s administrative office. The counseling center serves the area of Bolesławiec County.
The counseling center’s staff assess children’s current level of development and forecast their development, diagnose children with special educational needs (those with visual or hearing impairments, chronic illnesses or physical disabilities), provide therapy to children and young people with specific difficulties in learning to read and write, diagnose the causes of children’s learning difficulties, diagnose, counsel and provide therapy for emotional difficulties among children and young people, prepare students to choose a profession and school, maintain an information database on schools, professions and forms of further education, provide speech therapy at educational institutions and at the counseling center, and promote health and a healthy lifestyle.
The counseling center is a public educational institution without school holiday breaks. Throughout the year, its administrative office is open on weekdays from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
