The incident occurred on Friday, 14 December, on the A4 motorway. A reader informed us:

36 km of the A4 motorway toward Zgorzelec [na wysokości Osieczowa – przyp. istotne.pl], a citizens’ arrest by truck drivers of a fellow driver who, under the influence [...], was driving along the motorway in a zigzag, hitting the barriers along the way.

The duty officer at the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec received information about a citizens’ arrest on the A4 motorway. At the scene, officers heard that truck drivers had noticed their fellow driver continuing to drive despite hitting a safety barrier.

Seeing this, the reporter, with the help of another driver, blocked the dangerous vehicle, forcing the 23-year-old to stop, and then took the keys from the ignition.

The person detained was a 23-year-old from the Silesian Voivodeship. A sobriety test produced a negative result. Nevertheless, because of suspicions that the 23-year-old had been driving under the influence of intoxicating substances, blood was taken from him for testing.

If it turns out that the man from Silesia was driving the truck under the influence of drugs, he could face up to two years in prison.
