Update: 2018-12-13 10:00
Officers from the Bolesławiec County Police Headquarters are investigating the arson attacks at the former brickworks. They are determining the causes and circumstances of the series of fires.
We will return to this topic.
Let us recall. Another fire broke out on Wednesday, December 12, at around 7:00 a.m. Once again, the former brickworks in Nowogrodziec was probably set on fire. Approximately 100 square metres of wooden ceiling burned.
Fortunately, no one was injured. Demolition work and extinguishing operations are under way.
Six fire service units took part in the operation: three from the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service, and one each from OSP Nowogrodziec, OSP Nowogrodziec II and OSP Zebrzydowa.
As we have already mentioned, this was not the first fire at this location. Let us recall. The previous one occurred during the night of December 6–7 in Nowogrodziec. (The photographs come from the Facebook profile of Ochotniczej Straży Pożarnej w Nowogrodźcu.)
The fire broke out at around 3:00 a.m. The entire building was engulfed in flames, which is why it was probably arson.
As many as 20 fire service units took part in extinguishing the fire.
Fortunately, no one was injured.
Moreover, on the website of the Bolesławiec County Headquarters of the State Fire Service, we read:
On November 16, 2018, firefighters from JRG Bolesławiec and OSP Nowogrodziec carried out rescue and firefighting operations at a storage facility belonging to the former brickworks, located on Fabryczna Street in Nowogrodziec.
The fire was noticed a few minutes before 9:00 a.m. A wooden ceiling on the first floor of the building was burning. Smoke inside the building posed a particular difficulty and hazard; the firefighters carried out operations while equipped with breathing apparatus.
Water jets were directed onto the burning ceiling. The storage rooms were cleared of smoke and ventilated. During the operation, all rooms were searched to rule out the presence of people at risk.
The firefighters partially dismantled areas where the ceiling had been damaged by the fire. The operation lasted two hours.
