In accordance with the schedule developed by the Ministry of the Interior and Administration, the Emergency Notification Centre in Wrocław (CPR) took over handling the 997 emergency number for Bolesławiec County.

From now on, anyone calling 997 from our county will be connected to the Emergency Notification Centre in Wrocław, just as when calling 112. (On 12 December, the takeover of calls to 997 will be completed throughout the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.)

Police:

A report handled by the CPR will be received by an emergency-number operator, entered into the ICT system and forwarded to the police duty officer, and, when necessary, also to other services, depending on the nature of the incident or threat. The CPR’s takeover of the 997 number will shorten the waiting time for an emergency connection to several seconds.

Officers add:

Handling the 997 number through the CPR will make it possible, if necessary, to automatically redirect a call to another CPR, for example if all operators are busy. There, the report will be accepted immediately and forwarded to the locally competent police unit, which will speed up the services’ response.

This solution has already worked very well for several years in the case of 112, where the average waiting time is just 10–12 seconds. The same will apply to 997, as it will operate using the modern telecommunications infrastructure within which 112 functions.

Currently, around 12–14 people are on duty around the clock at the Emergency Notification Centre in Wrocław.
