Readers from Nowogrodziec municipality contacted us regarding the fiber-optic internet that was supposed to operate in the said municipality. Residents are concerned:
They were pulling the cables, but not properly anywhere; they left them sticking out, unburied. [...] And it has already been like this for about a year, since they are doing nothing.
There was even a rumor that the investment had been suspended because work was underway in the Market Square in Nowogrodziec. (We asked about it at the Municipal Office, but it turned out not to be true).
Local government officials from Nowogrodziec Municipality referred us to the Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office and the Marshal's Office of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. The spokesperson for the former replied immediately: “The Lower Silesian Voivodeship Office is not carrying out an investment in Nowogrodziec municipality.”
Last week, we also wrote to the press office of Orange (which is supposed to handle the next stage of the investment) and to Alias (which is supposed to complete the first stage of the project). So far, we have not received a response. Nevertheless, on the latter entity’s website the following information appeared:
Announcement concerning the implementation of projects in Głogów and Bolesławiec counties
Dear Sir or Madam,
In response to inquiries about the status of the projects we are implementing, we would like to inform you that acceptance procedures are currently underway, bringing the construction process to a close.
The planned launch date for the network is December 2018.
The infrastructure is ready for service providers to come on board. Once the acceptance procedures are completed, the launch dates for services will depend on the efficiency of retail operators.
We apologize for any delays, which were mainly caused by, among other things, the prolonged stages of obtaining the necessary permits, beyond our control. We will keep you informed of further project updates on an ongoing basis.
It appears that there is a chance that the aforementioned investment will finally get underway. But will it? We will return to the subject.
