By the end of 2019, two new and two reconstructed stops, located along a section approximately 13 km long, will improve transport connections in the Jelenia Góra agglomeration. This will create an opportunity to make better use of rail transport, which is more environmentally friendly than road transport. Residents of the agglomeration will benefit from the service, and tourist traffic will be handled more efficiently. The work has been scheduled without suspending train traffic.
At the station in Jelenia Góra Sobieszów, passengers have been able to use the new platform no. 2 for a week. The 150-metre-long facility has a new surface and is almost twice as high as the previous one, providing convenient access to trains. The track and the supporting structures of the traction network have also been reconstructed. Platform no. 1 is currently being reconstructed.
The Jelenia Góra Zabobrze stop is being built between Jelenia Góra and Jelenia Góra Zachodnia stations. Work is currently under way near the viaduct on Jana Pawła II Avenue. The outlines of two new 150-metre platforms are already visible. The tracks have been reconstructed and new points installed. Access to the platforms will be provided from Grunwaldzka and Paderewskiego streets. (The level crossing between the platforms will be secured with barriers and will also be equipped with monitoring).
The second new stop, Jelenia Góra Przemysłowa, is being built between Jelenia Góra Zachodnia and Jelenia Góra Cieplice. A 150-metre platform is being constructed, with a footpath leading to it from Spółdzielcza Street and Karola Miarki Street. The crossing over the tracks will be secured with automatic barrier equipment.
At the Jelenia Góra Cieplice stop, the new platform is being built closer to the railway crossing near Lubańska Street. This solution will shorten residents’ walk to the stop.
A total of six new platforms will be built at all stations and stops covered by the work. They will be equipped with shelters, benches and information boards. New lighting will be installed, and access routes will be available to people with limited mobility.
The reconstruction of the platforms includes the installation of new tracks and a traction network. Railway traffic control equipment will be replaced. The scope of the work also includes work on two viaducts, over Drzymały Street and Osiedle Robotnicze Street, and on the bridge over the Bóbr.
