The volleyball players from Gdańsk were in the middle of the table before this match. TOP are the last team in the competition, so before every match there is hope that the team will finally climb off the bottom.
The eighth-round match differed from the previous ones in its course. In earlier matches, especially those played at home, TOP started promisingly. The first set usually began with the Bolesławiec team taking the lead. The match in Gdańsk began completely differently.
The TOP volleyball players were unable to put up a fight and made far too many errors. The first set ended with a 25–13 defeat for the Bolesławiec team. The second set brought an even heavier TOP defeat—25–12. Only in the third set did the Bolesławiec players put up a fight against the volleyball players from Gdańsk. They lost narrowly, by just two points, 25–23. Unfortunately, this did not change the final result of the match, which TOP lost 0–3 in sets.
