On November 17–18, the WRPF World Cup in the bench press and deadlift was held in Złotoryja. Zbigniew Boczar, a resident of Lwówek Śląski and, on a daily basis, a soldier in Bolesławiec’s 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, took part in the competition.Zbigniew Boczar
Our artilleryman won second place in the bench press and third place in the deadlift (both in the uniformed services category).
Z. Boczar:
These are among the most prestigious competitions in Poland; you can see many decorated competitors, not only from Poland.
The first day of the competition featured the bench press and the Monster Cup. I managed to win silver in the bench press; I improved my result from the Polish Uniformed Services Championships by 7.5 kg.
After a full day of competition, already at night, I managed to press a 250 kg barbell in the Monster, which was one of the goals set for the competition.
The second day featured the deadlift. There was one goal: to achieve the best possible result after a full day of competing in the bench press. To my pleasant surprise, I managed to win third place; I lost only to competitors who had not competed the previous day.
The soldier adds:
Of course, many people will immediately say: “Why so little? Big deal.” I invite such smart-alecks to compete and show what they can do.
Many people think I make some money from this, but that is not the case. I get only satisfaction and medals and, most importantly, the joy of my sons when they receive the medals together with me—and that is priceless.
Many people wish me ill, and my job does not make preparing for competitions easier. Despite this, I get better from one competition to the next because I put my whole heart into it, and passion is a way of life.
I would like to thank my training partner Przemysław Andrzejczak for help with my preparations, Mariusz Machniak from Centrum Kompleksowej Fizjoterapii Lwówek Śląski for assistance before the competition, CER ART from Bolesławiec for its support, and my teammates from the champion team Tytan Team for their help during the competition.
The greatest thanks, however, go to my wife Daria, who understands and supports me every day and, whenever possible, attends competitions with the children and cheers me on.
