The Reader wrote to us via Facebook:

Once again, a request to do something about the barrier near Lidl. I understand—safety and so on. But it cannot be the case that the barrier remains closed for 15–20 minutes.

For example: at 6:40, I drive up to the closed, congested barrier. The barrier opened at 6:57, after a freight train traveling at 10 km/h had passed.

She added:

Please explain this to our employers, because I would like to point out that most of the people standing in the traffic jam are going to work [...]. An employee has to leave home 20 minutes earlier because they must take into account that the barrier may remain closed for that long!

I probably do not need to write that people did not get to work on time. Perhaps publicity and publication will resolve this matter.

As istotne.pl was told in July this year by Bohdan Ząbek from the press team of PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A., the safety of people is a priority for the company. At railway crossings, everything is configured so that a green signal cannot be displayed for a departing or arriving train until the crossing barriers are fully closed. From the perspective of a driver waiting at the crossing, this can be inconvenient.

We wrote about the matter back in 2013. Details can be found in the article Inconvenient railway crossing near Polna Street.
