A genuine miracle took place in Poland in the 1980s. Since 4 June 1989, we have lived in a democratic country. The Ziemia Bolesławiecka Association wishes to commemorate this anniversary. The commemorations will include:
- the “This Is How It Was” exhibition (in Bolesławiec and the surrounding area). The Association appeals to all residents of our county who have memorabilia from those years (underground publications, photographs, leaflets). Contact: Ziemia Bolesławiecka Association, 4 Kaszubska Street, tel. 075 732 46 94)
- a meeting with opposition activists from the 1980s
- the decision of the “This Is Remembered” competition. The Association announces a competition for a recollection from the 1980s. The organizers are offering three prizes of PLN 1,500, PLN 750 and PLN 500. Texts (typewritten, up to 10 pages, signed with a pseudonym—with the author’s name in a separate envelope) should be sent to the address provided above
- a concert of Jacek Kaczmarski’s songs.
Let us not allow anyone to write for us the history that we created or witnessed. Let us also not allow it to be falsified. Let today’s reality not divide us—for in order to fully enjoy democracy, we must first build a democratic society. We have work to do. Let us remember that there is an inseparable connection between our private lives and the fate of our homeland, and that change for the better depends on us.
Details concerning the commemoration of the anniversary of the elections to the Contract Sejm will be announced soon.
