A representative of the talent agency Michał Wiaderek, who visited Bolesławiec to look for filming locations, is delighted with our city. For now, he is not revealing who will direct the film, but Ilona Łepkowska (the author of scripts for, among others, the television series “M jak miłość,” “Na dobre i na złe” and “Barwy szczęścia”) is to oversee the screenplay. The film is to be shot next year.

– This is a very interesting story that will open more than one mind and build a future for more than one responsible parent. I believe this is how you should present the film – attorney Małgorzata Gruszecka commented on the filmmakers’ idea.

Dominik’s trial divides people: some have already passed judgment on him, while others defend him with all their heart. All these dramatic events offer hope for a good film story.

– This dramatic story makes us all more sensitive to difficult matters, to things we forget about in the rush of everyday life, although it is sometimes worth stopping and reflecting – said the city mayor. – If this film achieves that goal, then as the people of Bolesławiec we should be proud that it will be made right here – added Piotr Roman.

Wojciech Kasprzyk, who was the first to help Dominik’s family as they desperately sought help for the boy, also sees potential in this tragic story.

– I have never encountered anything like this, with lay judges crying during a hearing. At the hearing in Jelenia Góra, the lay judges are crying; that rarely happens – adds Dominik’s defense attorney Wojciech Kasprzyk.

The istotne.pl portal has, from the very beginning, covered Dominik’s trial and story. Following our publication, nearly 1,000 petitions supporting Dominik were signed. The campaign was organized by the Polish Psychopedagogical Society, which held a picnic in October where signatures were collected for the petition “Let’s Free Dominik K. " More than 1,500 people have signed it to date.

– There are a great many such people in Poland—children and adult children of alcoholics (ACoAs) and children from dysfunctional families (DDFs) – says Dawid Kołodziej. – The problem of addicted or dysfunctional parents neglecting their offspring has many dimensions and affects a large part of society – adds the president of the Polish Psychopedagogical Society.

Several hundred signatures were collected in an hour during the picnic from people who understand how difficult it is to grow up in a home devoid of love. In a home where the most important person in a child’s life—the mother—is an alcoholic.

We are very curious to hear what you think about making such a film; vote in the poll.
