On Wednesday, October 10, local government officials from Bolesławiec County and Nowogrodziec Commune opened a new, 665-metre section of road between the villages of Czerna and Gierałtów. “This is the penultimate road investment that we are opening for use this year,” said the Bolesławiec county governor Karol Stasik. “This is a very important project because it is the shortest route to Nowogrodziec, the commune capital.”

“Importantly,” the county governor noted, “the access roads and culverts were professionally constructed. They are suitable for combine harvesters.”

This is another investment carried out by Bolesławiec County in cooperation with Nowogrodziec Commune. “Relations between our local governments used to be poor; today, our cooperation is exemplary,” added K. Stasik.

“This road is very important,” emphasized deputy county governor Tomasz Gabrysiak. “For several years, we have observed increased traffic on national, provincial and county roads, as well as on commune roads. This is related to the fact that three special economic zones operate in our county. One of them is the zone in Wykroty, in Nowogrodziec Commune. Employees from our county and neighbouring counties use all these roads to reach their workplaces. That is why these roads must be safe.”

“All the residents of our commune want to be able to reach its centre on very good roads and safely,” stated Robert Relich, head of Nowogrodziec. “We listened to the farmers’ concerns: there are good access roads to the fields, adapted to modern agricultural equipment.”

He added: “Good, harmonious cooperation with Bolesławiec County means that, within our financial capabilities, we are carrying out further investment projects. And despite the busy pre-election period, we have already planned two more investment projects for next year.”

Investment in figures:

  • section length: 665 m (average width: 4.5 m)
  • replacement of culverts at access roads, including headwalls – 20 linear metres
  • clearing bushes from ditches and desilting ditches – 1,208 linear metres
  • laying a 4 cm-thick binder course
  • laying a 3 cm-thick wearing course
  • construction of bituminous access roads to fields, including a crushed-stone sub-base
  • construction of 1 m-wide verges
  • cost: PLN 279,811.72.

The project was carried out by Sudeckie Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych from Jelenia Góra.
