In September, police officers from the Prevention Department of the Municipal Police Headquarters in Jelenia Góra—together with forest rangers from the “Śnieżka” Forest District in Kowary, as well as from the forest districts in Szklarska Poręba, Lwówek Śląski, Jawor and Złotoryja—are conducting operations in the Jelenia Góra Valley targeting quad-bike and dirt-bike riders who, by entering the forest, violate applicable laws.

(During the operation, officers detained a 24-year-old in Sosnówka who had illegally entered the forest on a dirt bike. What is more, the man attempted to use force to make an officer discontinue his official duties. Proceedings are underway against the 24-year-old).

On September 18, in the municipality of Stara Kamienica, uniformed officers detained a 57-year-old German national riding a dirt bike through the forest. The German national was held in police custody and then brought before the District Court in Jelenia Góra, where he was fined PLN 4,000. (He will also have to pay court costs).

Police:

Joint operations by foresters and uniformed officers are intended not only to prevent damage to nature, but also to make walkers feel safer and avoid complaints about noise.

And adds:

Officers announce that, due to the considerable nuisance caused to residents and violations of applicable regulations, people riding quad bikes or dirt bikes will be brought before a court for illegally entering the forest.
