The incident occurred at the end of August this year. As the 78-year-old woman was returning from church, she was attacked by a man. He knocked her to the ground. Using force, he tore her handbag away and then fled. (Fortunately, the woman did not suffer any serious injuries.)
Police officers from the criminal division of the Zgorzelec police headquarters identified the perpetrator of the robbery. He turned out to be a 34-year-old resident of Zgorzelec County who was already known to the officers.
The man was detained by police officers in Opole and taken to the Zgorzelec police headquarters. He has already been charged.
At the prosecutor’s request, the court ordered three months’ detention for the 34-year-old. The aggressor could face up to 12 years in prison.
