On Wednesday, September 12, county officials accepted the project entitled “Reconstruction of County Road No. 2272D.” “This is another road investment project that we are completing this year. It concerns a 1,660-metre-long sidewalk in Pasternik, in Gromadka Municipality,” said the Bolesławiec starosta Karol Stasik. “Interestingly, the 2-metre-wide sidewalk was made of bituminous material. We chose this solution because the buildings in Pasternik are quite scattered and, consequently, a paved sidewalk with little use would simply become overgrown.”
The investment was worth approximately PLN 670,000. The two local governments—Bolesławiec County and Gromadka Municipality—contributed equal shares.
“This is a good investment for the residents of this locality because it improves their safety,” emphasized the head of the Bolesławiec County Board. “This is a very important road for the County because it connects us with the Copper Basin. Employees travel this way to mines, for example in Rudna, Lubin and Polkowice. It is therefore economically important. It offers hope that a new shaft will one day be built near Wartowice, and that copper extraction will be launched in Bolesławiec County. This would mean an improved standard of living for residents and better job opportunities. What is more, students whom we train as miners could find work locally.”
“Another completed road investment by Bolesławiec County, this time carried out in Gromadka Municipality. It was not a renovation; we built the sidewalk from scratch. Residents will now be able to walk safely through their village,” added Deputy Bolesławiec starosta Tomasz Gabrysiak. “This is one of the last county road investments this year. We have already begun planning the next ones, which I hope we will carry out next year. We have declarations from the commune heads, the mayor and the burgomaster regarding the co-financing of these projects. I therefore hope that next year will be as successful as this one.”
“The investment involved building a sidewalk along the county road in Pasternik,” said Marek Bogacki, construction manager representing Sudeckie Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Drogowych. “The stormwater drainage system consists of three street inlets, two manholes and two sidewalk drainage channels. At the same time, electrical works were carried out alongside our investment: three streetlights were installed, partially illuminating our sidewalk as well as the intersection toward Motyle.”
A productive investment year for Bolesławiec County. And it is not over yet
“This year we have completed a great many investments,” notes Karol Stasik. “We have reconstructed more than 20 kilometres of roads. Between October 16 and 18, we will carry out the final acceptance of the largest road project: the road between Osiecznica and Rudawica, together with two bridges over the Kwisa River.”
Tomasz Gabrysiak:
In just a moment, we will open the historic and most important investment of Bolesławiec County. Historic and most important because we have waited the longest for this project to be completed. Work on the road between Osiecznica and Rudawica is nearing completion. This investment is worth PLN 25 million and includes more than 23 km of new asphalt. Once it is finished, residents of Bolesławiec County will be able to cross the Kwisa effectively in Świętoszów and travel safely throughout our county.
He adds:
I am most pleased that we managed to reach a full agreement between the Bolesławiec County Board and all the heads of the county’s municipalities. All these investments carried out on county roads over the past two years were co-financed to varying degrees by the municipalities of our county.
I hope that this tradition of jointly setting priorities for the municipalities and the County will continue. This is a good sign, because in a few years 100% of county roads will have been modernized. Then we will have to devise further investment projects to carry out together with the municipalities.
