The incident occurred on Saturday evening. One of the people living on the ground floor of the top-floor building at Jana Pawła II Street noticed water dripping from the ceiling. Firefighters and police were called to the scene. While checking one of the apartments upstairs, a man from the neighbouring stairwell also reported water dripping in his ground-floor apartment. It later turned out that there was water in the cellar as well.

It was established that the water was coming from an apartment on the first floor, where renovation work was underway. Water flowed from it into two apartments below, and then into the cellar. Unfortunately, it was not possible to reach the owner of the ill-fated apartment.

A technician from the housing cooperative was called to the scene. He shut off the running water and heating throughout the entire vertical service line.
