Officers from the Economic Crime Division of the Municipal Police Headquarters and the Border Guard Post in Legnica have dismantled another Legnica outlet selling illegal excise goods. At one of the city’s markets, tobacco products and alcohol hidden in caches and bearing no Polish excise stamps were discovered and secured.

The officers seized nearly 13,000 cigarettes, 0.5 kg of tobacco and 17.5 litres of spirits. It was estimated that if the goods had reached customers, the State Treasury would have lost PLN 12,000.

The 43-year-old was detained. He faces up to three years in prison and a substantial fine. (The police have already secured PLN 4,000 in cash toward the future penalty).
