Symposium participants are creating their works at three Bolesławiec plants: “Ceramika Artystyczna” Artistic Handicraft Cooperative, the “Manufaktura” Stoneware Factory, Smoleński & Zwierz General Partnership, and the “BOLESŁAWIEC” Ceramic Plants Ltd. Additional workspaces are provided by the studios of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre. Mateusz Grobelny is once again the symposium commissioner.

A four-person committee consisting of Ewa Lijewska-Małachowska, Director of the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre; Anna Bober-Tubaj, Director of the Museum of Ceramics in Bolesławiec; Krystyna Gay-Kutschenreiter, symposium commissioner in 1990–2005; and Mateusz Grobelny, commissioner of this year’s symposium, selected 11 artists from the applications submitted. The participants of the 54th International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium in Bolesławiec are: Roberta-Lady I-Taly Barlati, Italy; Ruty Benjamini, Israel–United Kingdom; Aneta Brudkowska, Poland–United Kingdom; Stanisław Brach, Poland; Rozalina Busel, Belarus; Sarban Chowdhury, India; Katarzyna Anna Chrzanowska, Poland–Norway; Michał Gdak, Poland; Mateusz Grobelny, Poland; Dorota Grześkiewicz, Poland; Kazimierz Kalkowski, Poland; Barbara Licha, Poland–Australia.

The Bolesławiec symposium is the oldest event of its kind in Poland. It effectively promotes the work of outstanding ceramic sculptors from Poland and abroad. It is organised by the Bolesławiec Cultural Centre – International Ceramics Centre and the Municipality of Bolesławiec.

The works submitted by participants of the 54th edition, as well as works by artists from last year’s 53rd International Ceramic and Sculpture Symposium, will be presented during the opening of the “Before and After” exhibition, which will take place on Friday, 17 August, at 4:00 p.m. at the Town Hall, Rynek 1.

The project is co-financed from funds received from the budget of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship.
