Messy—that is the shortest way to describe a section of Zgorzelecka Street. Beer and vodka bottles, as well as used packaging, have been scattered here for a long time. No one cleans the area near the PKS bus station. Our Reader asked us to publicize the problem. “I hope this rubbish disappears,” he wrote.

The municipal police have intervened in the matter many times. “The owner of the site cleaned it only once last year,” Emil Zając, commander of the Bolesławiec Municipal Police, told the IstotneInformacje.pl portal. “In the autumn, we submitted a motion to the court to fine the plot’s owner,” he added.

“We respond whenever possible,” explains Bartosz Szczap, a member of the management board of Spectrum Galerie, which owns the site at the intersection of Łokietka, Zgorzelecka and Górne Młyny streets. “The company cannot afford to hire security guards who would watch over this site around the clock.

According to Bartosz Szczap, the company cannot be held responsible for Bolesławiec residents littering on its plot. “Since this site is so important to the city, perhaps inspections should be intensified,” he added.

The case is being heard by the District Court in Bolesławiec. It seems, however, that even a fine imposed by the court will change little.
