In June this year, both females gave birth to three red panda cubs. However, Upendra is not raising her offspring in Görlitz. The coordinator of the European Endangered Species Programme for Red Pandas designated Aachen as the destination, so Upendra moved to the Dutch border in spring this year. There was great joy in the Netherlands at the double offspring!
In Görlitz, Nima is currently doing everything she can to prevent her son Sanju from overheating in the prevailing hot weather. Depending on the position of the sun, she moves the little one from one hollow to another. The animal keepers help her cool him down by regularly watering the enclosure; the evaporation of the water makes it slightly cooler.
All the young red pandas are doing very well and developing properly, making an important contribution to the conservation of this endangered species.
