A Reader wrote to us via Facebook:

There is no-parking signage on both sides of Staszica Street. But this happens there every day.

The issue concerns cars parked on the pavement, which make it difficult for bus drivers to do their work.

Are there too many cars on our roads?

Let us recall. In March 2016, we reported that the municipal authorities had obtained very detailed data on the number of cars in Bolesławiec. At that time, the number of cars registered by Bolesławiec residents (data from 23 February—editor’s note, istotne.pl) was 33,608, of which almost 5,000 were trucks.

“If we add to this,” said President Piotr Roman during a City Council session held in February 2016, “several thousand cars that enter our city every day, we have approximately 50,000 cars in Bolesławiec each day.”

Data obtained by municipal officials showed that at that time there was more than one car for every adult resident of Bolesławiec.

That was more than two years ago. Now—we suspect—the situation is even worse in this respect. More and more cars mean fewer and fewer parking spaces. (We understand this; nevertheless, on behalf of the Reader, we appeal to drivers to park their vehicles in a way that does not make life difficult for other motorists).

Do you also feel that there is nowhere to park in the City of Ceramics?
