Let us recall. On the night of July 7–8, a major fire broke out in the Węgliniec Forest District, in the Krucze Gniazdo Forest Range, covering 4.68 hectares of forest stands. Węgliniec Forest District:
The fire was probably caused by arson. Firefighting operations began at 2:00 a.m. and continued until 11:00 p.m. Three Dromader firefighting aircraft from the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Wrocław, one Antonov aircraft from the Regional Directorate of State Forests in Zielona Góra, and 15 fire engines took part in the operation.
Unfortunately, this was not the end of the operation. On July 9, the website of the volunteer firefighters from Węgliniec published the following post:
After more than twenty hours of fighting the forest fire [...], a crew from OSP Węgliniec was dispatched again to “extinguish the remaining areas of the fire.” On July 9, crew 609-25 worked for another 13 hours. Firefighting aircraft once again supported the firefighters during the operation.
The firefighters added:
Crews from JRG PSP Zgorzelec, JRG PSP Bolesławiec and OSP Studniska were also operating at the scene.
