Police called to the scene of the crime apprehended the suspect, but the woman could not be saved. At the time of the incident, the suspect’s and the victim’s two-year-old daughter was in the apartment. The child was not injured and was taken to hospital for observation. At the request of the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kamienna Góra, the Family and Juvenile Division of the District Court in Kamienna Góra established foster care for the child.
On July 13, 2018, Marcin W. was brought to the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kamienna Góra, where he was charged with murder under Article 148 § 1 of the Criminal Code. The offense is punishable by imprisonment for no less than eight years, up to life imprisonment. The suspect admitted to committing the alleged offense and gave an explanation.
After procedural activities with the suspect had been completed, the District Prosecutor’s Office in Kamienna Góra filed a motion with the District Court in Kamienna Góra for his temporary detention. The court granted the Prosecutor’s Office’s motion and, on July 14, 2018, imposed a custodial preventive measure on the 35-year-old for a period of three months from the date of his arrest.
Among other measures, investigators conducted an inspection of the scene and questioned some of the witnesses. On July 16, 2018, an autopsy of the victim was conducted. Its preliminary results confirm the Prosecutor’s Office’s findings to date.
It was established that Marcin W. had previously been convicted by the courts several times, mainly for offenses against property.
