On March 7, the district stage of the 22nd Olympiad of Construction Knowledge and Skills was held in Zielona Góra. It was attended by 44 students from the Lower Silesian, Greater Poland and Lubusz voivodeships. Bolesławiec was represented by five students from the Construction Technical School. In the team classification, the Bolesławiec students took a high second place, losing by just half a point to the leader – the Construction School Complex in Zielona Góra. In the individual classification, Łukasz Woleński came second.
Here are the individual achievements of the Construction Technical School students:
- Łukasz Woleński – fourth year – 2nd place
- Damian Górak – fourth year – 8th place
- Sebastian Tomaszczyk – fourth year – 11th place
- Łukasz Kapral – second year – 30th place
- Grzegorz Nowicki – third year – 39th place
Łukasz Woleński advanced to the national final, which will be held in early April in Wodzisław Śląski. Łukasz was only one and a half points short of first place. Łukasz Kapral, a second-year student, also provided a pleasant surprise. He outscored many older students. “He was the only second-year student to take part in the Olympiad. He managed to take 30th place. Behind him were students from the second and third years,” says Jacek Jurkiewicz, director of the Construction School Complex Jacek Jurkiewicz. “We are the only school in Bolesławiec achieving such successes in subject Olympiads,” the director emphasizes.
Students of the Construction Technical School prepared for the Olympiad under the supervision of teacher Bronisław Sołek. “It is one of the most difficult Olympiads. It covers knowledge from all construction subjects, as well as technical knowledge. The students prepared for the Olympiad at school, but they also had to work at home,” emphasizes Bronisław Sołek.
The five students from Bolesławiec are celebrating their joint success. Łukasz Woleński speaks most confidently about his plans. The winner wants to study architecture and urban planning at a university of technology. The other two fourth-year students have not yet decided on their fields of study. For now, they face their matura examination.
