Firefighters from OSP Nowogrodziec – Osiedle II decided to clean up the Kwisa on their own initiative. Wrocław’s TVP 3 prepared a report on the matter. As we read on the television station’s website:

The Kwisa is dangerous. Over the course of six years, it flooded nearby towns four times, carrying tonnes of rubbish along with it. When beavers built a dam on the river, a huge blockage of waste formed.

Volunteers from Nowogrodziec decided to clean up the river themselves. “Some people treat a mountain river like a rubbish dump,” the firefighters say regretfully. The Kwisa’s riverbed looks like a landfill.

The Nowogrodziec local government will pay for the rubbish to be removed. The firefighters’ operation will continue until Saturday. WELL DONE!
