Event venue: BCC Gallery, ground floor
Date: 02.06.2018, Saturday
Opening hours: 11:00–17:00
In this way, we will stimulate the children’s imagination, transporting them for several hours in the gallery to, among other things, an arena where LEGO robots compete and, like sumo wrestlers, try to push their opponent out of the ring.
The question that fascinates everyone—“How is it made?”—will be answered in a workshop on building and controlling a LEGO robot. Specialists and engineers will show how to make such a robot and explain what electromechanics looks like on a small scale. Below is a detailed description of the individual components of the event.
Robot City and technology workshops
During events in shopping galleries, open attractions work best—those that do not require registration and have no fixed start or end time. Therefore, we plan to set up stations that children and young people can use at any time.
The installation will include:
Creative LEGO Zone – a place where parents can leave their children with our instructors and learn the basics of building and programming robots.
Robot Park – a place where anyone can interact with a robot and learn how it performs specific tasks. One example is a robot that solves a Rubik’s Cube: an interested visitor approaches a station where a special cube-solving robot has been assembled. The visitor scrambles the cube and then places it in the robot. The robot displays how it will solve the cube, how long it will take and how many combinations it will use. During this time, the instructor explains the robot’s operating principle and algorithm. The robot then solves the cube according to a specified pattern and voilà—it is done.
Sumo-bot wrestling – a dynamic attraction. On a specially prepared robot-fighting arena, anyone interested can battle a robot from the opposing team.
Theatrical performance by a professional acting troupe
The performers will create a unique show that will remain in the hearts of young viewers for a long time. It is the largest touring theatre and visits kindergartens, schools, libraries, hotels, community centres, municipalities and shopping centres. The fairy tales it presents feature large, 130-centimetre puppets made in its own workshop, along with live acting. The hand-decorated and hand-painted sets also make a huge impression. The performances are developed so that the knowledge conveyed is up to date and concerns important social and cultural issues. Each play is developed and adapted to the children’s age.
As part of the event, two performances are planned, at 12:00 and 14:30. Between the performances, entertainers will amuse the youngest children in the so-called balloon zoo, and the Gallery will also be visited by a fairy-tale character.
The performances will be enhanced by games with entertainers, who combine theatre with elements of live storytelling.
Two performances will be presented that day: “The Princess Kidnapping” and the fairy tale “About the Wooden Boy”
Children’s competitions
