On Wednesday, May 30, a press conference was held at the County Office headquarters on Armii Krajowej Street in Bolesławiec, attended by Bolesławiec County governor Karol Stasik, deputy governor Tomasz Gabrysiak and member of the Bolesławiec County Board Stanisław Chwojnicki.
K. Stasik spoke, among other things, about county road investments. Those completed recently include:
- a sidewalk in Łaziska (Bolesławiec municipality)
- regulation of the road bend in Ławszowa (Osiecznica municipality)
- a sidewalk in Nowogrodziec
- renovation of Staszica and Dolne Młyny streets in Bolesławiec
- the Parzyce–Kierżno road (Nowogrodziec municipality).
Next week, the road in Wartowice (Warta Bolesławiecka municipality) will be opened for use.
The governor also mentioned county projects scheduled for completion by October this year, including:
- the road to agricultural land from Raciborowice to Żeliszów (Warta Bolesławiecka and Bolesławiec municipalities)
- the Gierałtów–Czerna road (Nowogrodziec municipality)
- the Osiecznica–Rudawica road (– This is our flagship investment, governor Karol Stasik emphasized. – According to Mostostal employees, the bridges should be completed by the end of July. We will try to ensure that buses to Świętoszów run normally before September 1. The aim is for children to know that they will be able to travel safely to schools in Bolesławiec)
- a sidewalk in Pasternik (Gromadka municipality)
- Mostowa Street in Bolesławiec
- Suszki (Bolesławiec municipality): the road in this locality will be widened from 4 to 6 meters, with drainage and sidewalks.
Special school
As for the new premises of the County Complex of Special Schools and Institutions, there should be no further delays. As the head of the Bolesławiec County Board emphasized, the investment contractor signed an agreement with a subcontractor who guaranteed that the project would be completed on time.
Other projects the County intends to carry out include:
- a four-lane Grunwaldzka Street. (– We went to extraordinary lengths and came up with a solution bordering on a miracle. All so that we could reach an agreement with the heritage conservator, K. Stasik explained. – This will ease traffic jams in the area)
- drying the foundations of the First General Secondary School.
Week with the County as part of the Lower Silesian Capital of Culture
– The main aim of the Week with the County is to integrate the people of our county and to inform them about the County’s competences and responsibilities, Karol Stasik pointed out.
For years, the so-called round building was the center of events connected with this county celebration. This year, that will change. Most events will take place by the new County Office headquarters on Armii Krajowej Street.
It is worth emphasizing that this year’s Week with the County will take place as part of the Lower Silesian Capital of Culture. The County won a regional competition by proposing a program implemented not only by the county government, but by all the county’s municipalities. – We decided that we have something to show, Karol Stasik said. – We are a unique place on the map of Lower Silesia and Poland as a whole. We have great cultural diversity here; we want to show it to the residents of Lower Silesia and all of Poland. Both our culture and the beauty of these lands. Integration within the Bolesławiec subregion is our motto!
Tourism development in the County
– This year, we completed the first stage of a project promoting the tourist attractions of two partner counties: Bolesławiec County and Bautzen County, deputy governor Tomasz Gabrysiak said. – We are beginning the second stage, which will include expanding the group of partners. We want the Tourist Agency in Bautzen to join the project.
The second stage also includes establishing contact with entrepreneurs in tourism-related industries, the deputy governor explained. He added: – We want all information concerning this part of our county’s economy to be included in tourist materials, both electronically and in a traditional guidebook.
The long-awaited construction of the operating block
In the second half of June, a tender is scheduled to be announced to select a contractor for the first stage of construction of an operating block at the county hospital on Jeleniogórska Street in Bolesławiec. During this stage, buildings that can no longer be used because of their technical condition will be demolished; utilities will also be installed and foundations constructed.
Social policy
Foster parenting
Stanisław Chwojnicki spoke about how the County implements social policy, including the foster-care system. – There are 133 such families in our County caring for 160 children. And it works for us because it is a better form of care than orphanages, the County Board member emphasized. – We want there to be as many professional foster families as possible in our County.
Importantly, on June 16, a picnic promoting foster parenting and bringing this community together will be held at the MOSiR Water and Sports Center on Spacerowa Street in Bolesławiec. (S. Chwojnicki also mentioned the activities of the Family Support Center.)
Something for people with disabilities: a Vocational Activity Center at the ZOZ
– This is a place that will enable students of the WTZ and the special school to take up employment, S. Chwojnicki emphasized. – We will employ approximately 35 people with disabilities and 16 people to supervise their work.
The center will prepare meals for patients at the county hospital. (This is expected to improve their stay at the facility.)
