The matter was reported during the May session of the Bolesławiec City Council by Ziemia Bolesławiecka councillor Zdzisław Abramowicz. The Szare Szeregi ZHP Scout Troop Association in Bolesławiec wants the city authorities to honor the memory of scoutmaster Hubert Bonin by naming one of the streets of the City of Ceramics after him. We will return to the subject.
Let us recall. Hubert Bonin was one of the first residents of Bolesławiec. He was a prisoner of the Stutthof concentration camp. He took part in rebuilding the city after the war. He founded the first drugstore in Bolesławiec and was also the founder of scouting in our county.
He raised hundreds of citizens of the city and the country. He was an unquestioned authority both for his former charges and for contemporary young people. In December 2005, he became an honorary citizen of Bolesławiec.
He died in 2008. He was 96 at the time.
