The infrastructure manager, together with the carriers, has prepared a train timetable that will apply from 10 June to 1 September this year. The changes are related to investments being carried out by PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. on long-distance and regional routes. When designing the timetable, care was taken to make optimal use of the available railway network. Modernisation of railway lines will shorten train journey times between regions, while travel comfort and the safety of rail and road traffic will improve.

Convenient platforms and the return of trains in Podkarpackie and Małopolskie

From 22 June, passengers will be able to travel from Rzeszów to Jasło without replacement transport. PLK is completing work on the Boguchwała–Czudec route. New tracks, reconstructed structures and railway traffic control equipment will ensure smooth and safe train journeys. Passengers will gain additional stops: Zaborów Błonia, Markuszowa and Jasło Fabryczne. Reconstructed platforms at the Wisłoczanka, Babica and Babica Kolonia stations will also provide better service.

From 23 June, for the duration of the school holidays, trains will return to the Skawina–Sucha Beskidzka route, making direct rail travel to Zakopane possible. Investments being carried out by PLK on this line will shorten journey times on the regional Kraków–Zakopane route in the future and improve the range of national connections to the capital of the Tatra Mountains.

By rail to the seaside and beyond

In the second half of June (from 23 June), holiday trains to the seaside resorts of Łeba and Ustka will be launched. During the summer months, PLK will suspend track works on the Słupsk–Ustka line so that passengers can reach the seaside comfortably and safely. PLK has prepared the route from Lębork to Łeba for passengers; among other improvements, new benches have been installed on the platforms along the route, while the platform surface and access paths at Łeba station have been improved.

At the modernised Gdańsk Główny station, another platform edge is scheduled to be made available to passengers next month.

At the end of June, holiday weekend trains from Kielce to Busko-Zdrój will be launched, which may be an attractive way for residents of Świętokrzyskie Voivodeship and tourists to spend their free time. Summer connections from Białystok to Waliły have also been operating since 26 April. A weekend rail visit to Knyszyńska Forest will be possible until the end of October.

New options for PKP Intercity passengers

From 10 June, PKP Intercity is launching seasonal holiday connections, offering numerous travel options to the most popular tourist destinations, such as Kołobrzeg, Hel, the Tricity and Zakopane, from various regions of the country. Among other services, from 22 June to 1 September, the TLK Wydmy service on the Bohumín–Łeba/Hel–Bohumín route will connect southern and northern Poland. PKP Intercity has also planned a daily connection from Białystok to Hel: the TLK Rybak will run, among other places, via Ełk, Giżycko, Olsztyn, Elbląg and the Tricity. Kraków will gain one new connection to Kołobrzeg, and Warsaw two, operated by Pendolino.

Passengers will also gain daily connections to and from Zakopane: the TLK Halny on the Bydgoszcz–Zakopane–Bydgoszcz route, IC Witkacy and TLK Karpaty on the Gdynia–Zakopane–Gdynia route, and the overnight TLK Podhalanin on the Szczecin–Zakopane–Szczecin route.

The carrier is introducing additional stops in smaller towns: in Jastrowie (the TLK Kochanowski from 10 June and the TLK Moniuszko from 23 June), Olesno Śląskie (TLK Magnolia), Ropczyce (TLK Ustronie, IC Hetman and IC Siemiradzki) and Sędziszów Małopolski (TLK Ustronie, TLK Malinowski and IC Hetman).

Due to modernisation works, changes to train services in the Kraków railway junction area were introduced from 10 June.

By train through Greater Poland

From 10 June, passenger services from Jarocin to Gniezno will be restored, with PLK having prepared the stations and infrastructure for convenient passenger service. Existing replacement arrangements on the Poznań–Warsaw route, related to the modernisation of the railway line, will remain in place. Long-distance trains run via Gniezno, Inowrocław Rąbinek and Barłogi to Warsaw. Replacement transport applies to regional trains: until 15 July on the Września–Konin section, and subsequently on the Konin–Kutno section.

PLK is changing the regional route from Poznań to Piła, making train travel safer, faster and more comfortable. Until 1 September, due to the continuation of the works, replacement bus transport will operate on the Oborniki Wlkp.–Piła section. Changes to transport in Greater Poland are also related to the modernisation of the viaduct in Gorzów Wielkopolski and the reconstruction of the route from Poznań to Wrocław. Details are available at portalpasazera.pl.

Changes in the Kraków metropolitan area

PLK investments in the Kraków metropolitan area will improve travel conditions. Track and structure reconstruction is under way in the city, and a new Kraków Złocień stop is being built. From 11 June, PLK will minimise the daytime interruptions to train traffic on the Kraków Główny–Podłęże route that have been in effect since March this year. The five-hour interruptions (9:30–14:30), currently occurring every day, will apply for five days in June, July and August. This will improve train traffic at the Kraków railway junction.

A closer look at the regions

Modernisation work continues on the Działdowo–Olsztyn and Szczytno–Ełk lines in Warmia and Masuria. Some long-distance trains are running via diversionary routes, while replacement transport has been introduced for regional trains on these routes.

In central Poland, due to PLK works on the Łódź–Zduńska Wola and Łowicz–Skierniewice lines, some long-distance trains will take a longer route, while buses will replace some regional trains. The works will result, among other things, in more convenient and better-equipped platforms, increased train speeds and a higher level of safety at railway-road crossings. Detailed information is available from the carriers.

In Opole Voivodeship, PLK has begun work on the Opole–Nysa line, which will involve the temporary introduction of replacement transport on selected sections.

Passengers travelling on the Lublin–Warsaw route should note the changes already in effect in connection with the modernisation of the line. Trains travelling from Warsaw to Lublin run via Łuków and Parczew.

A convenient journey begins at the station

PKP Polskie Linie Kolejowe S.A. is investing in improving travel comfort. As part of projects carried out under the National Railway Programme, station and stop modernisations have been planned to improve their functionality and accessibility for all passenger groups. Platforms and underground passages are being equipped with lifts and ramps. This makes rail travel easier for people with reduced mobility and heavy luggage, as well as cyclists and carers with children in prams. PLK is also ensuring clear signage showing the way to the train. Reconstruction is under way at, among others, Gdańsk Główny, Szczecin Główny, Gorzów Wielkopolski, Lublin, Jaworzno Szczakowa, Rybnik and Biała Podlaska stations. The construction and modernisation of stops in the Kraków and Warsaw metropolitan areas is also under way.

PKP S.A., in turn, is carrying out the largest station reconstruction programme in its history, under which almost 200 facilities will be modernised or built. Among others, the historic station in Żarów in Lower Silesia has already been modernised. Passengers will be able to use it from 24 May this year.

Information for passengers

On 10 and 11 June, mobile information officers will be available to passengers at the largest stations: in Kraków (Główny), Katowice, Zakopane, Poznań, Wrocław, Gdańsk, Gdynia, Warsaw (Central, East and West) and Szczecin. They will provide information about the PKP Intercity train timetable. Passengers can also count on the support of InfoDworce employees. Train departures and arrivals are also displayed on boards and information kiosks at the stations.

Information about the current train timetable is available in advance at stations and stops in the form of posters. The timetable can be checked online at portalpasazera.pl and rozklad-pkp.pl. Carriers also provide information about train services.

Information about the PKP Intercity timetable will be available at intercity.pl or by calling 703 200 200 (the fee per minute of the connection is PLN 1.29 gross. The service is provided by PKP Intercity S.A.).
