Below we publish the appeal of the mayor of Nowogrodziec:

Dear Residents of the Municipality and Town of Nowogrodziec!

It can very often be observed that roadsides, roadside ditches and forests are littered with various objects and waste of unknown origin, although they are most often thrown from passing cars.

Apart from creating a very unfavourable aesthetic impression, this also poses a threat to human health and life. Wild animals are attracted to the municipal waste left behind, and their presence in the road corridor poses a threat to road safety. Waste of various origins and sizes lying around can also cause damage to the road and its drainage facilities.

As part of its responsibilities, the municipality systematically carries out cleaning work, including maintaining cleanliness. Cleaning the road corridor often involves collecting waste caused by the thoughtlessness and unnecessary carelessness of road users.

With the aesthetic appearance of Our Municipality, a clean environment and our own health in mind, I ask that you do not throw waste into roadside ditches, forests or other places.

I remind you that, under the operating municipal waste management system, every resident may hand over any amount of mixed and separated waste generated in the household to the company collecting municipal waste, in accordance with the applicable collection schedule.

Furthermore, residents of Our Municipality may, from Monday to Saturday (except Wednesday), freely deliver separated municipal waste to the Municipal Waste Selective Collection Point in Nowogrodziec at 24 Strzelecka Street (next to the Sewage Treatment Plant), including old furniture, carpets, refrigerators, renovation and construction waste, biodegradable waste and other waste in accordance with the applicable regulations of the facility.

Let us not litter, poison or destroy Our Common Good. Let us all work together to maintain order and cleanliness in our municipality, and provide ourselves and future generations with the wealth of clean forests, rivers, streams and beautiful nature.

Mayor of Nowogrodziec
Robert Relich

We have written many times in these pages about the mess that litterers leave in various places throughout our county. Often, when the matter concerned the City of Ceramics, we also asked for comment on the issue—sometimes from the municipal guard, sometimes from the Municipal Housing Management Facility. We understand that it is impossible to eliminate this problem completely. We know that the services cannot be on duty in one place around the clock.

So perhaps it is worth ONCE AGAIN—perhaps somewhat naively—appealing to fans of spending time outdoors (and drinking) to take their rubbish with them. Especially now, when spring is in full swing and county residents will certainly be going for walks more often. And quite frequently with small children.

We will return to this subject.
