On 12 May, the 3rd Polish Cup of Uniformed Services in the bench press and the 14th Open Dzierżoniów Championships in the bench press for women and men were held in Dzierżoniów. A resident of Lwówek Śląski and, in everyday life, a soldier of the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment, lance corporal Zbigniew Boczar took part in the competition. The artilleryman once again delivered and stood on the podium, winning bronze both in the 3rd Polish Cup of Uniformed Services and in the 14th Open Dzierżoniów Championships. During the competition, the uniformed competitor pressed a 192.5 kg barbell, additionally following the commands: start-up-rack, which makes the challenge more difficult.
Bronze medalist:
During the competition, there was a chance to fight for silver, but before the start the plan was to attempt 200 kg on the third lift, regardless of the final result of the competition. Unfortunately, this time it was still unsuccessful. Now, a few days of rest, and on 19 May 2018, a start in the prestigious WRPF Polish Championships in the bench press in Pruszków, followed by another attempt to press a 200 kg barbell. After the competition in Pruszków, the season will probably be over, due to the lack of funds needed to take part in the WUAP European Championships in Pabianice—unless funds can be raised to enable participation. These would cover the high entry fee, travel, food and accommodation.

Zbigniew Boczar adds:
I would like to thank the Centrum Kompleksowej Fizjoterapii Lwówek Śląski, especially Mariusz Machniak, for helping me prepare for the competition; CER ARR from Bolesławiec for the shirts; and everyone else who supports me every day. And, as always, the medals were won for my sons Fabian and Brajan, who travel with me and cheer me on together with their mother during my attempts on the platform whenever possible.
