The incident occurred before 11:30 p.m. on the bridge on Zgorzelecka Street in Bolesławiec. The man climbed over the railings and entered the roadway. He was hit by the driver of a passenger car. The driver said he had no chance to perform any manoeuvre or avoid the collision.
An ambulance and the police were called to the scene.
The injured man was probably under the influence of alcohol. His behaviour while first aid was being administered suggested this. The man, who had several bone fractures and general bodily injuries, was taken to hospital.
Traffic across the bridge is disrupted; the police are allowing vehicles through one lane at a time.
