Officers of the Traffic Department of the District Police Headquarters in Bolesławiec are carrying out intensified speed checks throughout the county as part of the “May Day Weekend 2018” operation. On 28 and 29 April this year, police suspended the licences of 4 drivers who exceeded the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in built-up areas.

On Saturday at 12:20 p.m., a 68-year-old resident of Wrocław, driving through Kozłów, exceeded the speed limit by 66 km/h. An hour later in Golnice, officers checked the speed at which a 62-year-old man from Szczecin was driving. Where the limit was 40 km/h, the man was travelling at 95 km/h. The next speed check took place in Kozłów, where a 48-year-old from Wrocław exceeded the speed limit by 56 km/h in a built-up area. Police suspended the fourth licence on Sunday at 7:30 a.m. A 52-year-old man from Żagań also exceeded the speed limit by more than 50 km/h in Kozłów. All the drivers were additionally fined PLN 400 and received 10 penalty points.

Meanwhile, on Saturday evening, police officers from Nowogrodziec stopped a 20-year-old who got behind the wheel despite having had his driving privileges revoked. On 29 April, traffic police stopped a 41-year-old driving a passenger car who was subject to a lifetime ban on driving all motor vehicles imposed by a court in Lwówek Śląski in 2016.
