Saturday’s match between Piast Wykroty and BKS Bolesławiec, two of the leading teams this season, was played at a good level. The match was even for most of the time, but BKS ultimately managed to find the way to the opponents’ net twice. Marek Majka was very active from the beginning of the match. He was in a good position as early as the 6th minute, and in the 13th minute he took a shot at the Piast Wykroty goal, unfortunately too weak to cause the opponents any trouble. Adrian Kulesza also tried to shoot at Piast’s goal, but his effort was blocked. Piast responded with a shot from Grzegorz Roman, but it was off target. As a result, we went into the break with the score at 0–0.
The second half followed a similar pattern. Piast tried to threaten the visitors’ goal, but BKS Bolesławiec’s well-organized defense and the outstanding performance of Jakub Walczak, who guarded access to our goal, stifled every threat at its source. As time passed, BKS’s advantage became increasingly visible. The Bolesławiec players appeared in Piast Wykroty’s penalty area more and more often. In the 60th minute, Adrian Biały headed the ball nicely, but the shot by our midfielder went over Piast’s crossbar. In the 73rd minute, we finally saw a goal. Jakub Walczak then sent the ball a long way from just outside his own goal, and it bounced into the path of Adrian Kulesza, who with a fine knee-high shot lobbed the goalkeeper from Wykroty and put us 1–0 ahead. The opponents tried to respond, but without success. In the 81st minute, the match was practically over. Łukasz Graczyk then produced a fine pass to Adrian Biały. Our team’s right midfielder, one-on-one with the goalkeeper, scored with a shot toward the far post to make it 2–0 and set the final score.
Near the end of the match, Marek Majka had to leave the field after a collision with a home player. The player was seriously hurt when the opponent, trying to clear the ball, struck our striker’s leg. Marek was carried off the field by his teammates. Fortunately, there was no bone fracture.
Saturday’s match was enjoyable to watch, and both teams deserve great applause. BKS Bolesławiec finally showed character, and that decided that the three points would go to Bolesławiec. The Bolesławiec team will play its next match away against Sparta Zebrzydowa (May 6, 5:00 p.m.).
