Starosta Powiatu Bolesławieckiego Karol Stasik:
By nature, I am very thrifty, and whenever I am going to spend money, I look at it ten times. And today, while presenting the report, I had one reflection: we consumed less than we could have. We did many good things in road infrastructure, education and other areas, while remaining very economical.
We managed to resolve the special school issue, modernize a record 21 km of roads and begin the county’s largest investment: the construction of two bridges in Świętoszów, together with the Rudawica–Osiecznica road. We also initiated a series of integrating activities with the municipalities to create a joint investment and tourism base.
2017 was a year of growth for Bolesławiec County, not only in road infrastructure but also in education and social services. The new Powiatowy Zespół Szkół i Placówek Specjalnych in Bolesławiec will be fully adapted to the above-standard needs of its students. The first effects of the changes are already visible. Renovation work is currently under way in the building on Bankowa Street in Bolesławiec. Meanwhile, in another municipal building on 1000-lecia Street, the Powiatowe Centrum Pomocy Rodzinie, while seeking external funding, established the Family Support Centre.
In 2017, Bolesławiec County also spent a record sum of several million złoty on improving the condition of roads in all municipalities. It is worth mentioning the largest investment in the history of Bolesławiec County: the reconstruction of County Road No. 2271D from Osiecznica to the A-18 motorway interchange (Luboszów), then to the county border (Rudawica), including two bridges. In the previous year, local-government officials who influence Bolesławiec’s image jointly managed to renovate Ogrodowa, Polna and Sądowa streets, as well as a considerable number of essential pavements. The other municipalities were not left behind either, and effective agreements between the Starosta and their leaders resulted in many important road investments in the county’s municipalities. In total, 21 km of roads were modernized. Efforts were also made in healthcare, including steps toward constructing an operating block at the County Hospital.
