On Thursday (26 April), three Civic Platform MPs visited Bolesławiec. They came to our town: Maria Małgorzata Janyska from Czarnków in Greater Poland. The MP serves on the parliamentary committees on Administration and Internal Affairs, and on the Economy and Development. Krystyna Sibińska from Gorzów Wielkopolski is deputy chair of the Civic Platform parliamentary group. She serves on the committees on Infrastructure, and on Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry. Zofia Czernow is a Civic Platform MP from the Jelenia Góra region, well known to the residents of Bolesławiec; she has her parliamentary office

in our town. Civic Platform MPs have already visited many towns and cities across Poland. The purpose of the meetings is to consult people, present their own ideas and listen to new proposals for bills being prepared by Civic Platform, intended to improve the lives of seniors in Poland.

Thursday’s meeting in Bolesławiec concerned Civic Platform’s policy toward seniors. The programme is called Poland for Seniors. The meeting was divided into three parts. In the first part, the MPs presented Civic Platform’s previous achievements concerning seniors—that is, what had already been accomplished during the PO-PSL coalition government. In the second part, the current proposals of the Poland for Seniors programme were presented, including:

  • Tax-free pensions
  • Exemption from contributions
  • The 60-year-old’s health and needs assessment
  • Geriatric care in every province
  • Free vaccinations
  • Care voucher
  • Respite leave
  • Seniors’ office
  • Support for seniors’ councils
  • Activation pass

The third part consisted of a discussion during which Bolesławiec residents present in the room could submit their comments and ideas for the Poland for Seniors programme. Details of the programme can be found on the website Poland for Seniors.
