Our Reader recorded a video showing a group of men at the PKP railway station in Bolesławiec (Lower Silesian Voivodeship):
Just before the train arrived, the men carelessly jumped on the tracks. We asked the spokesperson for the Headquarters of the Railway Protection Guard for comment. “The Regulation of the Minister of Infrastructure on the public-order regulations in force in railway areas classifies such an act as an offence,” says Inspector Marcin Żywiołek. “SOK officers may issue a warning or punish the offender with a fine of between PLN 20 and PLN 500 (the amount of the fine is decided by the officer intervening).
It turns out that this type of irresponsible behaviour can be reported by calling:
- the Railway Protection Guard’s 24-hour emergency number: 22 474 00 00
- directly to the SOK officers in Legnica: 76 753 53 78.
Some may find the subject trivial. But the matter is serious. M. Żywiołek: “Since the beginning of 2018, there have been 61 accidents in Poland involving pedestrians crossing tracks in prohibited places. As a result of these incidents, 13 people were injured and 46 died.”
