The publication addresses the activities of the Security Service in Bolesławiec and continues the book published in 2012, entitled “We Are All for Physical Labour… The Public Security Office in Bolesławiec (1945–1956).”
The publication is the result of many years of academic research conducted by Prof. Robert Klementowski. The author thoroughly analysed hundreds of files and documents, on the basis of which this publication was created. The work is divided into three parts. The first describes the establishment and organisational development of the Security Service up to 1975, the period of reorganisation (December 1956–April 1957), the structure and personnel of the Security Service in Bolesławiec up to 1975, the methods, forms and means used in its work, the Security Service’s personal sources of information and its network of secret collaborators.
The second part is devoted to the activities of the Security Service in Bolesławiec in 1957–1975: the social situation and manifestations of resistance up to the mid-1970s, the protection of the economy, operational activities targeting the Catholic Church and other denominations, counterintelligence protection of the area in 1957–1975, revisionism and wartime legacies, and the Ukrainian issue.
The third part discusses organisational changes in the Security Service during 1975–1983, the Security Service section of the Municipal Office of the Police in Bolesławiec in 1983–1990, as well as counterterrorism efforts and the operational case codenamed “Anarchy.”
