On Thursday, the awards ceremony for promoting the city in 2008 was held in the Forum hall. The ceremony opened with a performance by the duo An Dreo & Karina. The artists began singing in front of a curtain that had not been drawn open. Fortunately, the problem was fixed after a few minutes. After the duo’s short performance, gala host Darek Maląg appeared on stage. The laureates received statuettes from Mayor Piotr Roman. Awards were presented for cultural, social, sporting and scientific activities. Honorary awards and special distinctions were also presented. The gala ended with a performance by the Limo cabaret.
During Thursday’s gala, projects patronized by the IstotneInformacje.pl portal were recognized – artistic events at Galeria Concordia and Gliniada.
Honorary Awards of the Mayor of Bolesławiec for promoting the city in 2008:
- Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ for the idea and commitment involved in establishing Saint Maria De Mattias as the patron saint of Bolesławiec and for promoting the ideas of their founder on all continents, wherever the sisters are active, as well as for their special contribution to promoting the city of Bolesławiec and its patron saint. The award was addressed to Sister Wiesława Przybyło, Provincial of the Congregation of the Sisters Adorers of the Blood of Christ, and Sister Małgorzata Augustyn, Superior of the Mother House
- MPKB Karoserie Pancerne Spółka z o.o. for supporting cultural life in the city. The award was addressed to Karl Heinz Schies
- WR Ceramika s.c. J.K.W. Rutyna for its commitment to promoting the city at trade fairs, exhibitions and shows in Poland and abroad. The company draws on more than 30 years of experience in ceramic production. Its products are hand-painted with unique plant and floral designs developed at the local facility. The award was addressed to Katarzyna and Jarosław Rutyna
- Ceramika Artystyczna „Wiza” Sp. z o.o. actively participates in events promoting the city in Poland and abroad. The company was founded in 1963 by Stanisław Wiza. Initially, it was a small company employing several people, but it developed each year, improved its technological processes and expanded its decoration and product range. It currently employs 120 people. The award was addressed to Lidia Jop and Stanisław Wiza.
Special Distinctions of the Mayor of Bolesławiec for promoting the city in 2008:
- to the team producing the TVP S.A. Kraków Branch program „Etniczne klimaty” for the episode „Bolesławiec, mała Europa”. Etniczne klimaty is a program devoted to national minorities and ethnic groups. The program presents viewers with the contemporary, everyday problems and achievements of minorities, as well as their culture, traditions and languages. Journalist Brian Scott presents all this in a reportage format. The series was conceived and its reports are primarily written by Waldemar Janda. The distinction was addressed to Waldemar Janda
- to the team producing „Unterwegs in Sachsen” – MDR Landesfunkhaus Sachsen for the program „Bolesławiec – miasto dobrej gliny”. The film was broadcast on MDR television on 22 November 2008 as part of the series „W drodze do saksońskich sąsiadów”. It presented Bolesławiec’s assets to German viewers in a very interesting way, particularly its ceramics and the process of making them. The film showed the most interesting and historic places, drawing on the city’s rich history, and presented attractive nearby sites, including Kliczków and Grodziec castles. Journalist Beate Werner acted as the city guide. The distinction was addressed to Ulrike Wolf and Beate Werner
- to Telewizja Łużyce Sp. z o.o. for producing the film „Święta Maria de Mattias – Patronka Bolesławca”. The hour-long documentary, made in Italy and Poland, presents the saint’s life story and the process of making her the patron saint of Bolesławiec. The film was an excellent way of promoting the establishment of the patronage and the city itself. It was broadcast by Telewizja Łużyce, TVT in Silesia and nationally on Religia TV. The producers were Ilona Parejko and Patryk Iskierski. The distinction was addressed to board president Tomasz Buganik
- to Miejskiego Zakładu Gospodarki Komunalnej Sp. z o.o. for broadly understood information, educational and environmental activities for children, young people and adult residents of Bolesławiec. As a result of its activities, MZGK was selected as the best company in Poland for collecting sorted waste in the category of cities with up to 100,000 residents, recognized by the „Dolnośląski Klucz Sukcesu” Chapter as the best company with up to 250 employees in Lower Silesia, and received the „Panteon Polskiej Ekologii” award for proper management at the Municipal Waste Neutralization Plant in Trzebień. The distinction was addressed to board president Władysław Bakalarz.

- the Orlik team of Bolesławiecki Klub Sportowy „Bobrzanie” for winning the Lower Silesian championship in the „Orlik” football category. The coach is Mirosław Szapiel
- Mirosław Szapiel – award for the coach of the Orlik team of Bolesławiecki Klub Sportowy „Bobrzanie” Bolesławiec. Under his supervision, the team won the Lower Silesian championship in the „Orlik” football category
- distinction for the senior team of Bolesławiecki Klub Sportowy „Bobrzanie”. Winner of the Polish Cup at the OZPN Jelenia Góra level. The coach is Krzysztof Lechowski
- award for Bolesławiecki Klub Muay Tai. In 2008, the club’s athletes achieved top places in national and international Muaythai competitions, including first place and the title of Polish Junior Champion at the Polish Muaythai Championships in Kraków, and third place and qualification for the Polish Cup at the Polish Senior Championships in Kraków. The award was addressed to president Krzysztof Brzymowski
- award for Grupa Kolarska „Cyklosport Bolesławiec”. In 2008, the club’s athletes achieved high places in national and international competitions, including second place at the Irish MTB Championships and second place at the Polish Marathon Championships in Wałbrzych. The award was addressed to board members Dominik Broniszewski, Robert Promny and Paweł Apanasewicz
- award for Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec. The club has raised many Polish Championship medalists, including Remigiusz Kacperczyk, Kacper Grela, Krystyna Szwajkowska, Jacek Szubert, Norbert Stolicki and Łukasz Samonek. The award was addressed to president Robert Tomczyk
- Norbert Stolicki and Krzysztof Samonek – award for the doubles rackethlon team of Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec, which won third place at the International Czech Doubles Championships
- Remigiusz Kacperczyk – award for the Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec athlete who is Polish Veterans’ Champion in table tennis, Polish Veterans’ Champion in doubles table tennis and Lower Silesian Veterans’ Champion in table tennis. The coach is Łukasz Jaźwiec
- Kacper Grela – award for the Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec athlete who won many first places nationally and internationally, including first place at the Czech Open Rapid Chess Championships under 8, first place at the Polish Championships – Polish Cup in classical chess under 8, and first place at the International Akiba Rubinstein Chess Festival under 10. The coach is Piotr Kowalak
- Waldemar Krzemiński – award for the Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec athlete who won a gold and silver medal at the International Czech Republic Table Tennis Championships for People with Disabilities. The coach is Łukasz Jaźwiec
- award for the women’s youth volleyball team of Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec. The team qualified for the semifinals of the Polish Youth Women’s Championships in 2008. The coach is Tomasz Medyński
- Tomasz Medyński – distinction for the volleyball coach of the youth women’s team of Klub Sportowy TOP Bolesławiec. His team qualified for the semifinals of the Polish Youth Women’s Championships in 2008
- award for Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia”. A respected athletics training center in Lower Silesia and Poland, it received awards from the Lower Silesian Athletics Association and the Marshal of the Lower Silesian Voivodeship. It has trained many Polish champions, including Patryk Dudyński, Jacek Nabożny, Agnieszka Dalmata and Aneta Bujak. The award was addressed to president Bartosz Gruman
- Patryk Dudyński – award for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete, Polish champion in the 110-meter hurdles and winner of second place at the POL-FRA International Match in Strasbourg. The coach is Ryszard Posacki
- Agnieszka Dalmata – award for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete, Polish discus champion and winner of the Samsung Athletic Cup National Competition. The coach is Tomasz Markowski
- Jacek Nabożny – award for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete, seventh-place finisher at the World Championships, Polish combined-events champion, Polish record holder in the heptathlon and Polish Indoor Combined-Events Championships silver medalist. His coaches are Waldemar Krysztofiak and Dariusz Łoś
- Katarzyna Romaszko – award for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete, a two-time Polish long-jump champion and winner of first place in the long jump at the Poland–Italy–Spain International Match. The coach is Ryszard Posacki
- Aneta Bujak – distinction for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete. Bronze medalist at the unofficial Polish Youth Championships in javelin and winner of first place in the javelin at the International Youth Match. The coach is Tomasz Markowski
- Paula Kowalik – distinction for the Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia” athlete, individual Polish champion in the athletics quadrathlon and Polish long-jump champion at the Polish Athletics Quadrathlon Championships. The coach is Małgorzata Markowska.
- Ryszard Posacki – distinction for the coach of Międzyszkolny Klub Sportowy „Bolesłavia”. Athletes trained by him achieve top places in finals and Polish championships and are selected for the Lower Silesian team. Ryszard Posacki ranks among the leading coaches of Lower Silesian youth and junior athletes
- Krzysztof Jasiński – award for the athlete of Uczniowski Klub Sportowy „Ilyo” Bolesławiec, a member of the 2008 National Olympic Taekwondo Team and the Polish Junior Olympic Taekwondo team; he holds a master sports class. The coach is Mariusz Sulma
- Kamil Serafin – award for the athlete of Uczniowski Klub Sportowy „Ilyo” Bolesławiec, a member of the Regional Olympic Taekwondo Team. The athlete holds a first sports class. The coach is Mariusz Sulma
Distinctions in sport:
- Yevgen Nikitin – athlete of Uczniowski Klub Sportowy „Ilyo” Bolesławiec. He took first place in the 2009 Youth Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championship qualifiers, third place in the first round of the Youth Polish Championships and third place at the Youth Polish Olympic Taekwondo Championships. The coach is Mariusz Sulma
- Jarosław Molenda – president of Bolesławiecki Klub Brydżowy, winner of the 2008 Lower Silesian GRAND PRIX Final. Main organizer of the 17th Bolesławiec Three-Day Sports Bridge Event.
- Kaja Burniak – athlete of Bolesławiecki Klub Taekwon-do ITF. She qualified for the Polish Junior Cadets Championships and the National Youth Olympiad. The coach is Marek Marzec
- Krystian Marzec – athlete of Bolesławiecki Klub Taekwon-do ITF who competed several times in macroregional and national tournaments in 2008, winning medal places. The coach is Marek Marzec
- Tomasz Chodyra – member of Stowarzyszenie „Klub Aloha”, Polish champion at the 3rd Interuniversity Polish Paragliding Championships
- the football team of Klub Sportowy „KOLONIA” Bolesławiec. The team was promoted to Class A of the league football competitions in the 2007/2008 season
- Klub Pływacki „Masters” Bolesławiec. In 2008, the club’s athletes won 33 medals at the Czech Championships in Česká Lípa, three medals at the Polish Winter Championships and four at the Masters Open Water Championships
- Primary School No. 2 with integrated classes in Bolesławiec. In the Polish Athletics Quadrathlon Championships final: third team place for the girls’ team, as well as two gold medals and one silver medal for Paula Kowalik. The distinction was addressed to headteacher Łucja Wyrzykowska
- Football Team of Bolesławiec County Councillors – Polish Councillors’ Champion and twice Lower Silesian indoor football champion in 2008. The distinction was addressed to team manager Wiesław Słobodzian.

- Maciej Krzysztof Cierniak – student at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego w Bolesławcu, finalist of the 57th National Physics Olympiad and scholarship holder of the Minister of National Education for scientific achievements in the 2008/2009 school year. His mentor is Andrzej Idzik
- Robert Maksymilian Mróz – student at I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego w Bolesławcu, scholarship holder of the Prime Minister for academic performance in the 2008/2009 school year. His mentor is Zuzanna Mróz
- Anna Olejnik – graduate of I Liceum Ogólnokształcące im. Władysława Broniewskiego in Bolesławiec, finalist of the 12th National Knowledge Olympiad on the European Union. Her mentor is Edward Florków
- Maks Brandt – student at Gimnazjum Samorządowe nr 3 in Bolesławiec, winner of the „Kangaroo Math 2008” International Competition. His mentor is Jerzy Janowicz
- Teresa Prokowska – teacher and librarian at Miejski Zespół Szkół nr 2-Szkoła Podstawowa nr 1 in Bolesławiec, she won second place and the title of „Innovative Teacher 2008” in a national competition organized as part of the „Partnership for the Future” program.
Team awards in science:
- Zespół Szkół Ogólnokształcących i Zawodowych im. Henryka Sucharskiego w Bolesławcu. The school’s students participated in many regional and national competitions and it organized various social events. The award was addressed to headteacher Laura Słocka-Przydróżna
- Miejski Zespół Szkół Nr 2 w Bolesławcu. The school holds the „School Supporting Talents” and „School Caring for Safety” certificates and participates in national and international projects using non-budgetary funds. Its students participate in national and international competitions. The award was addressed to headteacher Kornel Filipowicz.
Individual awards in culture:
- Ewa Lijewska – director of Młodzieżowy Dom Kultury in Bolesławiec. She made a significant contribution to MDK receiving numerous awards, including the Dolnośląski Klucz Sukcesu in the best educational institution category, and to obtaining funding from the National Fund for Environmental Protection and Water Management for an environmental project that resulted in the creation of a phenological and floristic garden and an Environmental Education Center workshop
- Grzegorz Roman – created Galeria Concordia in an old factory in the city and carried out the projects „Ona i On” and „Rytmiczne Święta”
- Przemysław Filipowicz – won the first prize for best film, the Film of the Year Award for screenplay and the Film of the Year Award for directing, presented by the Federation of Independent Filmmakers at the 54th National Amateur Film Competition OKFA 2008. Nominated for the European Independent Film Awards „Grand OFF” in the fiction category
- Zdzisław Mirecki – longtime active member of Towarzystwo Miłośników Bolesławca and the International Police Association (IPA). Owner of Poland’s largest collection of business cards, which has appeared three times in the Polish Book of Records and Curiosities.

- Muzeum Ceramiki w Bolesławcu for organizing the exhibition on Lower Silesian Easter and spring customs, Dawniej i Dziś, and carrying out the projects „Skarby Ziemi Bolesławieckiej” and „Od rzemiosła do sztuki”. The award was addressed to director Anna Bober-Tubaj
- Chór „Kamerton” Państwowej Szkoły Muzycznej I stopnia w Bolesławcu – winner of numerous awards and distinctions at national and international choir reviews. The award was addressed to conductor Aleksander Samostrokow
- Stowarzyszenie Bolesławieckie Centrum Inicjatyw Lokalnych „Via Sudetica” – for organizing Gliniada during the Bolesławiec Ceramics Festival, which was recognized by the Lower Silesian Tourist Organization as the region’s most interesting event in 2008. The award was addressed to president Justyna Rutkowska–Talar and vice-president Paweł Apanasewicz
- Klub Nauczycielski „Carpe Diem” – for carrying out the „Podróże za miedzą” program, whose aim is to learn about one’s „small homeland”. The award was addressed to president Eugenia Wolska.

- Rev. Andrzej Jarosiewicz – for his commitment to work related to the revitalization of the historic Sanctuary of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary and St. Nicholas, one of the important tourist attractions of our city.
Team awards in the social field:
- District Board in Bolesławiec of the Polish Red Cross – nominated three times for the „Dolnośląski Klucz Sukcesu” Chapter award in the category for the best Lower Silesian non-governmental organization. Organizer of many events in Poland and abroad promoting honorary blood donation and expanding knowledge of first aid. Co-organizer of many charitable campaigns. The award was addressed to president Adam Fornal
- „Tulipan” Allotment Garden in Bolesławiec – third place in the district competition for the best-managed family allotment garden. Cooperation with institutions and educational units including PCK Bolesławiec, municipal kindergartens, Klub Nauczycielski „Carpe Diem” and the County Police Headquarters. The award was addressed to president Jerzy Zając.
