32 sets of clothing (winter and summer) for the ambulance service and a portable ventilator—that is a donation from the Bolesławiec municipal authorities. The county authorities, meanwhile, purchased a modern ventilator, which has already been delivered to the intensive care unit. Each local government spent PLN 50,000 for this purpose. “Although we closed 2008 with a positive result, every donation of this kind eases the burden on our budget,” said Adam Zdaniuk, director of the county hospital, during the ceremony handing over the medical equipment.Adam Zdaniuk, director of the county hospital.

Zdaniuk expressed hope that the cooperation with the local governments, which benefits the hospital, would continue, especially since 2009 was expected to be marked by investments.

The head is also pleased that the responders received proper footwear: “We know what potential our employees have. This donation will allow them to make full use of their skills.”

According to Bomba, the Bolesławiec emergency ambulance service is in good condition. “We have nothing to be ashamed of. Every ambulance has a defibrillator, a ventilator and a cardiac chair. We meet European and even global standards,” she assures.

The intensive care unit staff are pleased with the ventilator purchased by the county authorities. “We have another piece of equipment used to save people’s lives,” says Elżbieta Dutkiewicz, deputy head of the intensive care unit. “It is important to have more ventilators than beds. One of the devices could break down, and we cannot afford such a situation,” she adds.Elżbieta Dutkiewicz, deputy head of the intensive care unit. “It is important to have more ventilators than beds.
