One of the items on the agenda of the February session of the Bolesławiec City Council was a vote on a draft resolution concerning the “intention to transform Municipal Public Preschool No. 3 in Bolesławiec by relocating its premises”. The transformation would take place on the last day of the summer holidays. The facility would then move to the current branch of MPP No. 3, located on Dolne Młyny Street.

“This resolution sounds alarming, but in fact it only concerns moving the premises of Municipal Public Preschool No. 3,” explained Beata Sulska, head of the Social Affairs Department of Bolesławiec City Hall Beata Sulska.

The councillors adopted the resolution unanimously. The document’s justification states:

[...] a preschool may be transformed by relocating its premises by the governing body at the end of the school year, after that body has ensured that the children can continue their preschool education in a public preschool of the same type.

The governing body is also required, at least 6 months before the date of the change, to notify the parents of the children, the competent education superintendent and the executive body of the local government unit responsible for running schools of that type of its intention to transform the preschool.

[…] Currently, Municipal Public Preschool No. 3 in Bolesławiec, with its premises at 5 Ceramiczna Street, has departments in two buildings: at 5 Ceramiczna Street (1 department attended by 5- and 6-year-old children) and at 42a Dolne Młyny Street (4 departments attended by children aged 3 to 6). Due to the change in the education system, it has become necessary to provide rooms for the operation of Primary School No. 3, which has eight grades, and consequently to free the rooms occupied by Municipal Public Preschool No. 3. In the 2018/2019 school year, only 7 six-year-old children would remain at 5 Ceramiczna Street. Places for these children will be provided in the building at 42a Dolne Młyny Street.

Implementing the resolution will not have any financial consequences for the municipal budget.
