During the February session of the Bolesławiec County Council, council members will adopt—or not—a resolution on the “change to the budget of Bolesławiec County for 2018.” The document’s justification states, among other things, that planned expenditure will be reduced by PLN 900,000 in connection with the “withdrawal from the implementation of the project entitled ‘Administrative cooperation in the field of public health in Bautzen County and Bolesławiec, planned במסגרת the INTERREG Poland-Saxony Cooperation Programme 2014–2020.’ The project did not receive funding.”

This does not mean, however, that the investment is at risk. The second subsection of the justification for the aforementioned resolution refers to increasing planned expenditure by PLN 900,000 and allocating it to a new project, which will be called “Reconstruction, together with the extension, of the existing hospital building by a new operating and treatment complex, along with the demolition of two existing buildings at the Healthcare Centre in Bolesławiec.”

The matter is purely technical. The County intends to submit several applications—one has already been submitted—to various institutions for funding for this investment. Neither the local-government authorities nor the hospital intend to wait for the decisions; they want the hospital extension to begin now. Hence this resolution. The project itself is not changing; only its name is changing.

Over the next two years, the County will provide the hospital at 1 Jeleniogórska Street with PLN 1.8 million for the investment in question—PLN 900,000 each year. We will return to this subject.
