On 2 March, as part of events marking the National Day of Remembrance of the “Cursed Soldiers,” Bolesławiec will host the “For the Cursed 1963” Run and Shooting Tournament. The event is organised by the Association of Former Soldiers of the 62nd Special Commando Company and the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment.

Programme of events:

  • by 9:00 a.m. – arrival in Bolesławiec, together with the colours. Groups of 30 from individual schools. Field uniforms. Meeting place: Bolesławiec Minor Basilica, 3 Kościelna Street
  • 9:15 a.m. – a spoken-and-musical performance by students from the uniformed classes of the Kombatanci Ziemi Lubańskiej Upper-Secondary School Complex in Lubań
  • 10:15 a.m. – commencement (the 23rd Silesian Artillery Regiment parade square in Bolesławiec)
  • 10:40–11:45 a.m. – individual soldier drill, platoon drill and company drill; colour parties practise separately,
  • 10:40 a.m. – shooting tournament – a school or pro-defence organisation may enter two three-person teams (boys or girls; mixed teams are not permitted), using pneumatic long guns
  • 11:45–11:55 a.m. – warm-up and preparation for the run
  • 12:00 p.m. – individual 1,963-metre run by category (girls, boys from uniformed classes, male soldiers, female soldiers)
  • 12:15–12:35 p.m. – soldiers’ refreshments
  • 1:00 p.m. – conclusion of the competition, awards and ceremonial assembly.
