A resident of Lubin heard suspicious noises at night. After a while, he saw a man entering the building through a hole smashed in the commercial pavilion. The Lubin resident notified the police duty officer, who sent officers from the prevention department to the scene.
The perpetrator was so absorbed in preparing the loot for removal that he did not even hear the police arrive. The would-be burglar was arrested inside the pavilion.
The case was taken over by officers from the criminal and investigative departments. It turned out that the 26-year-old suspect had 14 other offences on his record, including break-ins at basements and commercial premises. He stole power tools, bicycles, pots and even commemorative medals. The losses were estimated at approximately PLN 14,000. (As he explained to the police after his arrest, he stole because it was an easy way for him to make money.)
The arrested Lubin resident had repeatedly been in conflict with the law. He now faces up to 15 years in prison.
