On Saturday, February 10, nearly all members of the Volunteer Fire Service in Raciborowice devoted their time to organizing and participating in first-aid workshops. The training took place at the OSP fire station and was divided into three stages:
- multimedia presentation
- teamwork, for which scenarios involving actors playing casualties had been prepared. (The task of each team was to provide assistance to the injured until the medical rescue team arrived)
- informal discussion.
Volunteer firefighters from Raciborowice:
The fact that we take part in incidents as firefighters and should know the basics of first aid is one thing. The other is that any of us may encounter a situation in our personal lives in which providing immediate assistance could save someone’s life. Such situations have already occurred among the firefighters of our OSP unit.
The firefighters add:
Many thanks for the professional support to Paulina Sowa and Przemek Lewandowski, to our injured and “battered” actors Ania Popendyk and Daniel Najdek, and, of course, to our fellow firefighters from OSP Raciborowice—for their commitment to the entire undertaking.
