The incident occurred on 8 February on II Armii Wojska Polskiego Street in Bolesławiec. The municipal police duty officer received a report that waste was being burned behind one of the premises. A patrol was immediately dispatched and easily located the site because a thick, dark cloud of smoke was rising above it.

It turned out that both green waste and rubbish from demolition work, including varnished doors, were being burned. The person responsible for the offence was ordered to put out the fire and was fined.

“The quality of our air, and therefore our health and the health of our loved ones, depends on us,” municipal police officers remind residents. “Meanwhile, some people thoughtlessly dispose of various types of waste by burning it in the open air or throwing it into stoves.”

It is also worth noting that burning plant waste in the open air is prohibited in the city of Bolesławiec. Biodegradable waste should be composted or delivered free of charge to the Selective Waste Collection Point, located at 6 Staszica Street in Bolesławiec.
