On Monday, January 22, we reported on the mess at the entrance to Bolesławiec. One of the Readers wrote on the forum that the “mess […] is the responsibility of the rural municipality.” However, it turned out that the illegal waste dump is still within the administrative boundaries of the City of Ceramics. (The sign bearing the name Bolesławiec is not, in fact, placed on the municipal boundary.) What is more, since this area belongs to the Urban Municipality, Bolesławiec Municipality does not monitor it.

What is the scale of the problem? “The problem exists; this article is an example. Over the course of a year, the municipality cleans up several to a dozen or so plots where waste appears. The ‘owner’ of the waste is the property owner, who is obliged to clean it up. If the owner is an individual, that person is summoned to clean up the property,” explains Stefan Łucki, deputy inspector for municipal waste management at the Bolesławiec Municipality Office.

He adds: “No waste should be dumped on any property. The waste shown in the photograph is collected from residents as part of the waste-management fee, and finding it in the form of a dump has no logical explanation.”

In December last year, municipal officials notified employees of Bolesławiec City Hall about the waste. We will return to the subject.
