Władysław Bigus, Head of Rudna Municipality:
This type of investment responds to the needs of parents who want to effectively combine their professional and family lives and who pointed to the need for such a facility in the municipality. The establishment of the nursery will certainly improve the situation of working parents, who will no longer have to drive their children to nurseries in nearby towns. In addition, thanks to this investment, we will supplement the existing network of kindergartens and schools and thus provide the municipality with a comprehensive educational and childcare offering.
We are trying to provide care for all children whose parents report such a need – even now, children as young as 2.5 years old attend our kindergartens. Furthermore, this investment is very important for the development of the municipality, because facilities such as nurseries and kindergartens can determine whether someone decides to move here or stay.
The investment is currently at the design stage – back in December 2017, the tender for preparing the design documentation for construction of the nursery was decided. The project will be prepared by Pracownia Projektowa PIK from Żory, which has until the end of March this year to complete it. Then, after a contractor is selected, an intensive period of construction work will begin, as the nursery is scheduled to be completed by the end of this year.
Initially, it was planned to adapt one of the existing buildings for use as a nursery. However, after carefully analysing the idea, the councillors decided to construct an entirely new facility. The nursery will be built on land behind the old kindergarten building, next to the school sports fields and tennis courts. This location was chosen primarily because of its proximity to the other educational facilities, which will make it easier for parents to drop off their children.
The building will, of course, meet all applicable accommodation and sanitary standards for this type of facility and will be fully equipped with furniture and equipment in all rooms. The area around the nursery will also be developed, including a playground, access roads and paths, parking spaces and lighting.
The nursery is intended to accommodate 35 children aged from 20 weeks to 3 years. The municipality has allocated PLN 770,000 in this year's budget for construction of the facility and development of the surrounding area.
