The incident took place on New Year’s Eve, before 1:00 a.m., near the stationery shop in Bolesławiec’s Market Square. Officers received a report that a man had burned his finger with a firework. An ambulance was called to the scene.

The injured man was welcoming the New Year with several friends. Fortunately, no one suffered anything more serious. Three of them were injured; their jackets had holes caused by sparks. (The jacket of the slightly burned man “suffered” the most.) The emergency medical team provided the group with immediate medical assistance.

The injured people identified a middle-aged man as the person responsible for the incident. He explained that he had indeed been setting off a firework, which unfortunately exploded right above the ground.

The police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. For now, it is not known whether the man identified by the three injured people will face any charges at all.
